Sincere Goodbye

Sincere Goodbye

You found me when I was troubled,
But now my pain has been doubled.
You saw me as some poor weak toy
That you could abuse and enjoy.
You played cruel games with my mind;
But now you are going to find
I’m not timidity’s daughter,
Afraid to leave this troubled water.
Instead I will take some sweet oil,
Not to calm but to begin my toil.
And when the oil has widely spread,
I wait to see you fill with dread.
For here is the surprising catch:
I will take a fiercely lit match
And ignite your sad little realm
Leaving you to man your small helm.
So this rat escapes your cages
As the conflagration rages;
And I will sing this, my swan song,
Thus bidding you a fond so long.
And as I blow a final kiss
That I hope you just cannot miss;
Recall I came in innocence,
Not with a dead or numb self-sense.
You thought I’d stay for any length;
But you reckoned without my strength.
So as the ashes cloud the sky,
Please enjoy my sincere goodbye!
