Love’s Cold Feet
For all that I am so damnably old,
I have never met someone quite like you;
Because when you get just a little cold
You turn such a delicate shade of blue.
Your teeth chattering loudly together,
Reminds me of the chiming of a bell.
And I fear for you in freezing weather,
For a touch might crack you like an eggshell.
But now my own safety is my concern,
After that first cruel surprise attack
When I was mercilessly forced to learn
The sheer hell of your cold feet on my back.
