She Floats On Air
She floats on air
Without a care,
No weight to bear.
Beauty so fair,
Beyond compare,
Needs no fanfare.
Godiva bare,
Clothed just by hair
While people stare
Everywhere.
Mirth now threadbare
For none will dare
Disturb or spare
Words now so rare,
Even to swear.
Neither glassware
Nor silverware
Chime anywhere.
No car horns blare,
Silence reigns there
Nothing can tear.
A brand new fare,
Reproach all share
Past all repair;
Wealth looked elsewhere
In this affair
They’re all aware.
Shame does declare:
“What price despair,
Poverty’s heir?”
For in unfair
Starvation’s lair
Death can’t forbear
A bier prepare.
But let this glare,
Her parade’s flair,
No sight impair
To her last prayer:
Let all beware;
Ignore nowhere
Human welfare.
