Tired Of The Hypocrisy
I don’t speak for them and they don’t speak for me;
There may be much on which we cannot agree.
A vast gulf may eternally divide us,
A concept too many cannot seem to suss;
Still, decency, courtesy, and dignity.
Absolute Truth exists independently,
Not based on personal relativity.
One of us is correct, the others unsound;
Their beliefs and mine may not find common ground,
But decency, courtesy, and dignity.
They complain I constrain their morality,
While forcing on me their view of charity.
We are polar opposites, to be direct;
And we may never share each other’s respect,
Just decency, courtesy, and dignity.
They see a restrictive uniformity;
I see a fake individuality.
They think a brotherhood of man is progress;
But I see calamity we must regress
To decency, courtesy, and dignity.
They cry it’s the death of creativity;
I see a spoiled child’s rank immaturity.
Where they see liberty, I just see license;
The rule of law is the only safe defense
Of decency, courtesy, and dignity.
We dare not rely on our humanity;
History shows we have no divinity.
The goodness of man hypocrisy must cease
If we want a society based on peace
Through decency, courtesy, and dignity.
