This poem is my second entry in the weekly prompted poetry contest for
the sept poem; so that makes this my second attempt at the sept poetic
form. But as it turns out, the sept poem cannot contain rhyming,
so this was disqualified.
Eliza Gilkyson’s rendition of
Karl Edmond De Vere Wallinger’s
song Is It Like Today? kept playing
in my mind, especially the chorus How could it come to
this? I’m really worried about living. How could it come to this? Yeah,
I really want to know about this.
This poem was my thought on what
could have prompted the question How could it come to this?
.
