Second Date Hopes

Stars in the vaulting black velvet night skies
Seem but dim reflections of lustrous eyes
Set in the face of the woman with me.
We sip from full glasses of fine champagne
Whose bubbles mist us like a gentle rain,
While music enfolds us comfortably.
Teasing, laughing, lost in each other’s charm,
Time’s passage has freed us from nerves’ alarm
To let us savor our own company.
Guards have been dropped as we dare take a chance,
Giving us hope we can start a romance;
Gradually growing, eternally.
